How to connect a device

Launch on your PC
Open ScreenExtend. It shows a QR code and a 6-digit session code for every network you're on.

Scan from any device
Point a phone, tablet, or spare laptop at the code. It opens in the browser without anything to install.

Enter the session code
Type the 6 digits to pair. The host spins up a virtual display sized to your device.

Drag across, like a cable
The screen streams over WebRTC. Slide a window off the edge and it lands on your phone, just like a true second monitor.

Every network you're on gets its own QR code and URL, plus an Anywhere tile for joining across networks. Scan, enter the code, and a fullscreen extended monitor appears.

Adjust each display
Each connected device has live settings: resolution scale, orientation, refresh rate, and video quality. Adjust one without affecting the others, or remove it.

Under the hood
GPU-encoded
Capture is encoded on the host GPU with NVENC (Nvidia), Quick Sync (Intel), or VideoToolbox (Mac) and sent over WebRTC for low latency.
No client app
The client is just a web page. Any device with a modern browser can become an extended monitor.
Encrypted
Signaling and streaming run over HTTPS/WebRTC with a certificate generated at runtime.
Offline mode
The host can start its own ad-hoc network, so devices connect with no router in reach.
Per-device
Resolution scale, orientation, refresh rate, and quality are set independently for each screen.
Auto-discovery
The host watches every network adapter and rebuilds join URLs and QR codes as things change.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use ScreenExtend?
Run it on your PC, scan a QR code (or open the URL) on any other device, and enter the 6-digit session code. That device becomes an extended monitor.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Every session needs a one-time code to join, which you can regenerate anytime to lock out unknown devices, and the stream is encrypted.
What resolution and refresh rate can it do? Can it game?
Each device goes up to 200% scale and 500 Hz. Gaming works if your network keeps up; heavy high-refresh video needs a strong connection. HDR is coming in a future release.
How many devices can connect at once?
As many as you like; each one gets its own virtual display. Performance drops as you add more.
How does offline mode work?
In Settings, start the hosted network with a name and password. Join that Wi-Fi on the other device and open the URL on the dashboard, no router needed.
What data does ScreenExtend collect?
None is stored. Settings stay on your device; a session only exchanges what's needed to set up the connection, then it's gone.
